Course Outline

What will you learn?

This course will teach you all the basic theory and practical skills necessary for manicures, pedicures, facials, lash & brow treatments and waxing techniques.

You will learn how to give facials, perform face massages and take care of your client’s skin.

You will also learn how to lift, tint and perm eyelashes, as well as tint and shape eyebrows. You will gain confidence in performing warm and hot waxing procedures.

You will master all the aspects of nail care, including manicures and pedicures.

You will explore how to maintain a clean and safe salon environment and how to consult and communicate effectively with clients and as well as performing reception duties and learning how to sell beauty products.

How will you be assessed?

For each unit of the level 2 beauty therapy course, you will perform practical skills, submit coursework and sit for tests.

Assessment will be continuous throughout the duration of your course. The beauty training consists of practical assessments, oral questions, theory tests, and assignments. At the end of the course, you must provide evidence to determine whether you have reached the required level of competence.

Written assessment papers will give further evidence of your knowledge and understanding of the subject. The collation of the assessments will be contained in a portfolio which will contain all document feedback sheets, including all written work.

Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course

 To obtain NVQ/VRQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma, you will need to complete the following units:
  • 1 Facials Massage and Skincare
  • 2 Lash Lift ( Lash Perming)
  • 3 Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting/ Shaping
  • 4 Waxing (warm and hot)
  • 5 Nail Treatment ( Manicure and Pedicure)
  • 6 Health, safety and hygiene of the workplace
  • 7 Client Care, Communication, Salon Reception Duties
  • 8 Consultation Techniques and Retail Skills

  • 1 What are entry requirements for Level 2 beauty therapy course?

    This course is open to all, regardless of prior experience. You do not need to have any other VTCT qualifications, as this course is thoughtfully designed for newcomers and seasoned pros alike. Students must be aged 18 and over and must be able to speak and understand English at a level that is sufficient to participate in the course. We make it our mission to never discriminate or allow any form of discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.

  • 2 Is VTCT equivalent to NVQ?

    **NVQ** – NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualifications. This is the general name given to the courses in the UK. It is important to understand this is not just a certificate for knowledge but also for your skills. **VTCT** – Vocational Training Charitable Trust – this is the assessment organisation that will ultimately award the certificate for your diploma in beauty therapy. Our NVQ courses are awarded by VTCT. This is why you may see the two acronyms used at the same time.

  • 3 What can I do after a Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course?

    On successful completion of our Level 2 courses, you could progress to a higher level course, such as Level 3, an apprenticeship or other employment.

  • 4 Will my NVQ/VTCT beauty or aesthetics qualification expire?

    You do not need to renew an NVQ as they don't expire.
